Houston and Chambers County Personal Injury Lawyer John Neese represents victims of serious personal injury and wrongful death, 18 Wheelers Accidents, Truck and Commercial Vehicle Accidents, Bus Accidents, Workplace Injuries, Plant Accidents, Refinery Explosions, and other Chambers County personal injuries.
While many other firms, especially those who advertise heavily, take on as many cases as possible, the Neese Law Firm operates differently. We accept only a small number of cases each year so we can invest all of our resources into each case. We are passionate about every case and believe that taking on too many cases affects not only the value of your case, but also the quality of your attorney-client relationship.
Hiring the right lawyer can be one of the most important decisions a person makes. “Whatever the case, when the stakes are high, it takes a combination of experience, focus, and stubborn determination to win,” says firm founder John Neese.
In serious personal injury cases, the “wait-and-see” approach does not work. At the Neese Law Firm we move quickly to investigate claims and to preserve critical evidence. “We prepare every case for trial from the very beginning,” says John Neese. “In every case, our goal is to either settle the case or go to trial within one year.”
If you would like to speak with an attorney at the Neese Law Firm about your Chambers County personal injury, Maritime or Jones Act Accidents, please contact our office. There is no charge for an initial consultation, and if we cannot help you with your particular matter, we will do our best to point you in the right direction and provide you the name and number of an attorney who can.
The Jones Act is officially titled the Merchant Marine Act of 1920 and was written to promote and protect American built, owned and staffed ships and formalize the rights of the merchant marine, or seaman. The act allows a seaman to file claims against their employer and recover damages resulting from the negligence of the shipowner, the captain, or crew members.
Generally, anyone who spends 30% of their time in service on the water is considered a seaman under the Jones Act. They can be workers on a wide variety of vessels including: Container ships, Oil tankers, Tugboats, Crew boats, Barges, Derrick barges, Jack-up rigs and Semi-submersible rigs.
Injuries can arise from explosions, falling pipes, slip and falls and defective tools and machinery, just to name a few. If you are a Rig Superintendent, Crane Operator, Roughneck, Floorhand, Roustabout, Pilot or Blue Water Seaman and have suffered an injury while on the job, you may be eligible for benefits.
